Florida’s Attorney General Settles with Locus Telecommunications

Locus TelecommunicationsThe Tampa Bay Business Journal reports that Locus Telecommunications has settled with Florida’s Attorney General, Bill McCollum, regarding the company’s marketing practices.

According to the release, an investigation into Locus’ marketing practices revealed that the company had offered a product(s) advertising unlimited minutes, which were not unlimited, and riddled with various other undisclosed fees and surcharges.

The settlement calls for Locus to begin delivering 100% of the advertised rates and minutes their products offer, agree to three years of auditing by the AG’s office and $105,000 over three years to the Hispanic Institute (played a key role in helping with the AG’s investigation).
