FTC Sues Prepaid Calling Card Distributor - Diamond Phone Card, Inc

The FTC (Federal Trade Commission) continued its crack down on the prepaid calling card industry by suingĀ  Diamond Phone Card, Inc (based in Elmhurst, New York).

This crack down is an effort to quell any misleading advertising that is being perpetuated by some calling card companies who sell calling cards that advertise more minutes than they actually deliver and/or without proper disclosure of additional fees.

This is a clear message to the consumers of prepaid calling cards that they should very carefully look into any company they are considering to buy a calling card from. If you are looking to purchase a calling card, review these calling card tips and advice before you buy a calling card.

New FTC Testimony On Prepaid Calling Cards

On September 11, 2008 the Federal Trade Commission gave testimony on prepaid calling card marketing practices to the U.S. Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation.

In it’s testimony, the FTC vowed to continue to educate and take action against calling card companies who knowingly misrepresent their products–just as they have been doing since the 1990’s.
